A PrayerA Poem by SamanthaSweeneyA prayer or a confession? Or perhaps it is a dream.A Prayer The whispers of the Angels Led me to you. Let me in through the gates of your soul. Mighty one Open his heart to me. Allow not another snake Sliver around my words and Change them. Shedding skin like lies She does. Sneaking Through the weaves of his hair And whipping her gaze stare from my gaze. Lord, I never want to hurt. Cleanse me of my sins Lord. You show me the answers In the amber speckles of his eyes And I am grateful. But I am fearful That she will morph also Into scales, and temp him Away from me. Or is it me? Am I the beast Without any legs? Were they stripped from me On that fateful day, In the wistful nirvana We wasted? I will not waste him Lord. © 2013 SamanthaSweeney |
