THE CHILD SLAVE WARS BEDTIME STORY

I

2055

IN THE FIRST DARK DAYZ

OF WORLD WAR IV,

A 5-YEAR-OLD GIRL FROM THE ‘HOOD

WAS SENT BY HER PARENTS,

LIKE MILLIONS OF OTHER WAR-TIME CHILDREN,

TO THE SHELTER OF A GREAT WALLED CITY.

THERE,

THE LITTLE HOMIES WOULD BE GUARDED

BY A MIGHTY SUPER-COMPUTER.

UNDER THE MACHINE’S ALL-WATCHING EYE,

THE CHILDRENS’ SAFETY WOULD BE ASSURED,

UNTIL THEIR MOMS N’ POPS RETURNED HOME

FROM THE WAR.

BUT, MY HOMEBOYS,

A TERRIBLE-A*S THING HAPPENED.

THE COMPUTER BECAME POSSESSED

BY ITS OWN POWER.

IT CAST AN EVIL SPELL,

TURNING THE SEVEN WALLED CITIES THE KIDS’ PARENTS HAD BUILT

INTO DEATH CAMPS.

AND THE POOR BOYZ N’ GIRLZ

THE COMPUTER HAD BEEN ENTRUSTED TO GUARD,

INSTEAD BECAME ITS SLAVES.

Again interesting introduction. Its short but at the same time develops and reveals the story onwards.

This is told with a powerful sense of precipitation; building a pretext to a doom-laden urban legend. An almost tongue-in-cheek voice of darkness seems to narrate it, deceiving its audience with subtle, playful histrionics - but hinting darkly at a much more sinister undertone and reality.. The inevitable feeling one would be left with when such descriptions of "death camps" and "child slaves" are employed. A threatening bedtime story that is clearly not meant for your average little daddy's girl.....

I'm liking this. A poetic storytelling approach. Can't say I've ever read anything like this before.

Very dark and intense words you have in these verses. This story adds to the suspence of reading your novel.

This is has such a dark, visual feel (I could imagine the graphic novelization). You've got the foundation here for an amazing story! Excellent!
