Sweet Deceit

Sweet Deceit

A Poem by Sam

I took all your lies,
Ignored their naked disguise, gave you a rise.
Swallowed them whole like sickly sweets,
I guess I have a sweet tooth for deceit.

Ashamedly your vivacity faded,
The battle was lost and probably still is,
But does it matter that you’ll never repair?
I know you’re scared
But the love we shared was enough to illuminate my darkened soul,
So yes it’s tragic, or even black magic.

Our termination was always looming
But my love for you was all consuming.

Don’t even tell me you don’t care anymore,
Your face cries out otherwise,
History could so easily repeat itself,
Endorse me with an even greater wealth.

Wishing upon a star will get you nowhere,
Because me and you have been everywhere,
Worry not about withdrawal symptoms,
I’ll meet you there, forget me not.
