Mantra

Mantra

A Story by Sam Davidson

A man took his three children to the beach,

The children played in the sand.

The first child took his bucket and built a sandcastle,

And called the sand a home.

The second child took his spade and dug a hole,

And called the sand a garden

The third child looked at both,

And observed that both were sand

The father looked at the beach,

And called it the universe.

Wow. I like it. It has a criss cross folktale/parable type thing going on. Very intelligent piece of writing. I scanned it over 3 or 4 times wondering what I would do at the beach. Once I figured that out, I was disappointed with myself. Great write.

Cheers!
