It's far too easy being dead But hard to reconnect When floating in a bodiless haze Where minutes take their time for days One assumes life to still reflect The solid things you like to neglect Like those that took your sanity That you found too hard to love And in tones of soft profanity Gave you your humanity While turning you to wisps of air In the ether, crying there When you've no hand to touch her face And the lips that brush her hair Are coming from a different place To mock the pretensions of your race It hurts your soul to dissipate Hate to love and love to hate © 2009 Sam Davidson |
