My son, my saviourA Poem by Sam87I wrote a lot about my depression... but although it's still there, it's nothing like before. This is a poem about my son.
My son
You saved me from myself In a way you'll never know I was on a downward spiral To the darkness far below. My life was endless misery No flame to light my way I never saw in black and white Just constant shades of grey. All my Smiles fraudulent All my laughter fake I went to bed each evening And dreamt I wouldn't wake. Alcohol my only course Became my only aim Addiction overcoming sense Everyday the same. Then there you were My unplanned gift Sent just for me To mend the rift A ray of beauty Shining bright All at once My life was right. My heart grew strong My dreams had wings And I came to see The joy life brings. Hope and laughter Love and pride The colours pushed The dark aside You were my saviour Pure and true And I owe everything To you © 2016 Sam87Featured Review
