Falling or Jumping

Falling or Jumping

A Poem by Gianna Dale
"

Self destruction- not subconscious. Alice in Wonderland idea. I hope you enjoy reading, and thank you for doing so <3

"
I was falling down the rabbit hole.
No- I strove to dig it deeper.
Hands clawing at its edges,
Yet praying it was steeper.
I let the flowers bloom
Traps that thorned my faith.
I craved what had ensued
I bargained venom's bathe
And allowed darkness to take.

I didn't fall because I stumbled.
It wasn't you who had pushed me.
I plunged to my descent.
In the madness I find reality.

Author's Note

Gianna Dale
Let me know what you think! Pretty much my favorite person recently gave me their copy of Alice and Wonderland, and in doing so reminded me of what Lewis Carroll most likely saw as a mere LCD driven hallucination, but I (like many) as a metaphor for my life's direction- with a twist. Hope you enjoyed it, please give me your honest opinion. Thank you for reading, my fellow writing freaks and fanatics <3 Gianna

This is very nice,
I am quite taken by the frantic nature of what I took as searching for a way back or maybe to stay within the dream of wonderland. This has an interesting sense of self about it, as you describe it plainly in a needful fashion. Very nice work.

"Hands clawing at its edges,
Yet praying it was steeper. "

This brought to mind the idea that perhaps the fall was better than both wonderland and her reality. This piece carries a slight bit of mystery to it and I think it is all the more profound for it.
Sincerely
Christopher

this is cleverly penned and full of delightful innuendos which underscore a classic tale quite well, but that last is is pure platinum!

Thank you Chris!!!
sometime's we need to learn what depravity is like to come to realization of what morality is . that being said its good to do the wrong thing sometimes and its not always right to do the right thing . sometimes we even know we're doing the wrong thing but yet we dig this hole deeper . its a good piece i like it

Thank you for your insightful and kind review (: I like what you took from the work.
I didn't fall because I stumbled, you pushed me in the mystery of your words. Madness is nor nonsense neither absurdity. It's a way of expressing ourselves and verbalizing our thoughts. This is a very well-written poem. ever so heavy that I fail to stop the urge of reading it again.

I do . Thank you so much for the great praise...Have a good one...:)
Beautiful. It makes madness beautiful. No apologies, we're all made here!
I have to say.... This is powerful. It makes you wonder what's reality and what's fake and really emphasizes indecision and general 'life is like a box of chocolates' (excuse my overused quotes but my more interesting ones don't really apply here). Well done and great on the technical stuff too!

I certainly believe that we all find comfort in the madness, and even though we know "right and wrong" - it still feels as though a veil is lifted. Kind of like realizing you are brainwashed and you suddenly have this episode of realization. In self-destruction there is always re-birth, either literally or figuratively. Really liked this G.
