Friends Forever

Friends Forever

A Poem by Sam

She walks as if she was dancing

Her voice is that of a nightingale

She laughs and it sounds as if the bells are ringing again

She gives a warm smile to all she passes

Her long brown hair flows in the breeze

Waving to all it meets

Her face is pretty enough for a magazine cover

All the other girls covet her

All the boys want her

But not many knew that

She carried the weight of the world on her shoulders

She leaned on her friend heavily

Who carried her willingly even when times were rough

When times got rough she leaned hard, and her friend stood taller

Without her she would have died by her own hand

They cared for each other in a way that can not be described

In a way that cannot be understood by others who have not felt it

When it was her turn to carry her friend through the tides of life

She did it selflessly

They held each others hands throughout the years

Were maids of honor at each others wedding

With love of the doves they hugged and cried and laughed with each other

They watched each other grow old

They shared pains pertaining to perfectly natural aging

One day she lost her friend

She knew she could not go on

She had the gun in her hand

But she remembered all the good times

She remembered how her friend had saved her all those years before

She put down the gun and crawled into bed next to her sleeping husband

That night she died
