From The Dark Into The Light

Why do you weep,
Close your eyes and sleep.
Why do you scream,
Rest your head and dream.

I know it's been hard for you,
But I'm going to see you through.
I know you're lost inside,
And I know how hard you tried.

You said you were okay,
But you grew worse by the day.
Is there something I can do,
Some way to help you through.

If only sooner had I known,
I wouldn't have left you all alone.
You never made it plain,
You were troubled and in pain.

You prayed to God above,
You said you needed love.
Don't you know we love you so,
That we don't want to let you go.

We pray that you will be alright,
You just need to try and fight.
So keep trying and be strong,
Everything will be okay before to long.

And you'll know it was worth the fight,
When you come from the dark into the light.

This piece is very inspirational, and being that I think I'm "in the dark" right now, I kinda needed to read this.

Anyways, I love the message in this poem and the poignant impact it could have on readers. We all go through pain, but part of what defines us is how we endure and overcome that pain. The last line conveys that theme on its own ... I loved how simple yet powerful it was.

I also like how this piece is motivational but also touches on the negative aspects of life such as being alone, weeping, screaming ... etc. Those details make the poem realistic and thus, relatable ... almost perfect for helping others get through rough times.
