Providers

Providers

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

some must do this

"
Men have always been providers
often with less sleep and rest
It has given them a shorter life
while trying to do their best

Women who bear children know
kids get cranky if they are tired
It tells them sleep is important
more rest is what is desired

Not having to battle in the workplace
women will watch over the young
Their singing to them is restful
quiet music they have sung

Music and poetry are not battles
two pleasures women embrace
Time to think about the good life
and a longer life they can face

Whatever we do is our environment
it determines our future forever
Living in the best place we can find
is the best proof we have been clever

Trying to get rid of bad habits
it is the hardest thing we can do
Any success you can manage
will mean more days for you

When you reach your old age
you can share what you learned
No one will want to listen
and help will likely be spurned

When they die younger it is sure
we will all land up in the same place
Humans seen to all act like this
it is inevitably what we all will face
