There are often many reasons
behind everyone's acts
Discovery can be essential
to determine the facts

 

Searching for motives
is a task others employ
Difficult and involved
often not a joy

 

Revealing the reasons
affects the course of each event
Since many want to know
the nature of intent

 

Trying to explain intent
is a process even less sure
Colored by the observer
making it a lot less pure

 

The need to explain
seldom goes away
Giving rise to judgements
lasting many a day

 

When the actor cannot explain
the degree of intent
The judgement of others
will determine the extent

 

The pattern of behaviors
will be the only thing more sure
What has happened in the past
will lead to an indefinite cure

 

There will always be the question
remaining after the fact
Proving the weakness
in judging any act
