Making Choices

Making Choices

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

that are better

"

Leaving everything to God

is only what a person is saying

They really leave everything to chance

to make it sound like praying

The lies we tell ourselves

are a habit hard to break

And if we don't succeed

blame God for heaven's sake

Such is the path to failure

an excuse when we don't win

Next time it will be different

another unpardonable sin

Information about failure

can make a person strong

Changing the way to procede

to avoid choices that are wrong

Poems concerning behavior

are messages to our mind

Trying to improve our choices

without being unkind

Fleeting thoughts for improvement

increase the chances to fail

When believing God didn't help

it is only a pitiful wail

Putting the requirements in print

is a contract having more power

Success can grow with awareness

becoming a beautiful flower

The words will last as long as we do

having value mainly for us

If they help us make better choices

it is what this poem tried to discuss
