Change

Change

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

for the future

"

Nothing stays the same

even when this is what we want

We might like things to continue

and change we try to flaunt

Belief change hasn't happened

may give comfort to the mind

But we will never stay the same

clear thinking will certainly find

Hanging on to the past

because it is a time we knew

Is a common misconception

that is futile to try to do

Being misled by what we like

is confusion at its best

When we are here no longer

our changing will come to rest

It is a poor prescription

for enjoying our time here

But making change an improvement

is truly worth a cheer

The input of serious effort

is truly a body need

It has promise for the future

as in the case of every seed

Adaptation is a behavior

seen in leaders everywhere

It is how they manage to get there

they know the meaning of care

If you like the sound of success

you could join with the best

And when you are here no longer

you will have earned your rest

I'm very poor at change. I 'm like a mountain who will not move. With age I'm getting better. Like in your poem. Change can be good? I like your thoughts and the wisdom shared. A outstanding poem.

Wise words indeed. Wonderfully captured. Life does have a way of keeping us on our toes, especially when we are where we want to be. Superb read. Thank you.
