Fact or Fiction

Fact or Fiction

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

you decide

"
Knowing what is true
takes wisdom from the wise
Judging events with honesty
avoiding factual lies

Fact most will agree
the mind sees take place
The mind forms opinions
to make its case

Knowing the difference
is very hard to do
Wisdom judged by others
to know what is true

Judges haven't seen the event
so are their opinions true
We are left with opinions
that is all we can do

If many questions are asked
some answers will not suffice
The opionated judges
make decisions not nice

Had the judges just listened
they could question each other
To come nearer to the truth
a better way than any other

Opinions about facts
are not true or wise
They too often fail the test
to avoid being lies

The only truth to be known
an impartial group must decide
Since impartiality doesn't exist
our country will have a bumpy ride

Your words are true. To be a leader is very difficult. Each decision will cause pain or prosperity to someone. Last line is fact. We got a bumpy ride for a few more years. Thank you for the excellent poetry.
