Lifetime

Lifetime

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

of love

"

Time is a gift

appreciated by the mind

It tells us we are alive

no matter what the crime

As birthdays come and go

time reminds us of our past

It says there may be a future

if we somehow make it last

For you I hope it is happy

I believe you can make it so

You have done this for 53

one of the greatest ways to go

'59 is a special number

reminding me of a time so good

That even '29 at thirty

I know never could

Time is about the good times

we choose to remember

January is the best month

as we waited in December

Then when you arrived

it was the best gift of any year

We were so happy to see you

we shed many a tear

Every story we read

has something from the past

It is why it gets written

maybe to make time last

If this has given any pleasure

it was written for you

My Birthday greeting

one of too few
