Crying

Crying

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

our first language

"
A basic language of the brain
given to human kind
Telling all who care to listen
the needs of a human mind

When all is well we are quiet
developing as we should
Our carers can then get some rest
because they know they could

Those who don't sleep soundly
are too conscious of our need
Having bonded from the beginning
its the nature of our breed

If our language is understood
we are more likely to survive
Its our way to communicate
in our effort to stay alive

When crying is learned this way
it will always be our friend
A civilized way to speak
that will last to our very end

Body language is very pure
understood from an early age
A sensitive expression for sure
for the civilized to engage

We learn other languages
simply from the words we hear
Languages give us power
as they diminish what we fear

Language develops intelligence
learn as much as you can
Crying sustains our sensitivity
for every woman or man
