Employment

Employment

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

work for all

"
The battle rages on
that is what humans do
Just like all the other animals
you can see in the zoo

The zoo is a civilization
that humans like to create
With rules that the animals
probably all hate

Most want to be free
from their cages and walls
And get away from the crowds
and out of their stalls

But if they got free
there would be no regular meals
It would create anarchy
and all kinds of squeals

There would be no more jobs
for them in the zoo
Provided by rich exhibitors
who paid taxes like me and you

Any kind of employment
takes a lot of compromise
We don't need wild animals
telling us a lot of lies

There is plenty of work
for everyone to do
We just need to agree
it takes civilization to be free

So instead of asking for more
learn to do the work for less
A way for animal populations
to have some hope for success
