News

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

we don't need

"
0ur body tries to survive
the stresses both far and near
Dealing with imagined perils
is a major cause of fear

Focusing on news reports
of problems others face
We relive their terror readily
and imagine taking their place

The news gets our attention
while making the media rich
They present it in exciting ways
at an elevated pitch

News offers few solutions
and answers are up to you
Excitement of the listener
is what the news tries to do

Presenters of most news
are actors in an angry play
Trying to excite the audience
by everything they say

Listeners of the news, beware
updates will come next
Instead if we read the news
we would give it more respect

Most news is not that important
we listen because it is there
Less news would mean less stress
causing less wear and tear

We need to turn off the news
an read a good book
Reading creates intelligence
and we might be less shook

Your words are true. Most news is nonsense. I listen to the local radio news only. I like to know what is going on where I live. A good book can allow us to think about something useful. Thank you for the wisdom and the excellent poem.
