Unemployment

Unemployment

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

for too many

"
Jobs

With all the talk about jobs
one is forced to wonder
How talk can create jobs
as economies go asunder

Jobs are about the work
that many people can do
They must create a product
that is saleable too

Someone has to buy the product
though the cash may not exist
Could it be there is something
that everyone has missed

We know there are jobs
that many workers still do
Too many lack needed skills
and the number is not a few

Changes in demands of the able
has left many workers in the dust
To increase their skills will take years
and their training is a must

Now many small companies
offer training for specific work
Education has usually focused
on talk, more money and the perk

It is no wonder how we got here
foreigners earn less cash
We still buy their products
even though it may be trash

There is little else to do
we have to learn to live on less
We all know this is true
and it is certainly no guess

This poetry is a product
of our educational system
The only job was to think and write
A skill that has really missed some
