Your Heart

Your Heart

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and your life

"
We were all born with a heart
take care of yours and it will last
Treat it with respect like you should
whether it beats slowly or fast

Exercise a lot when you are young
good also when you are old
Your heart is far more valuable
than money or even gold

You may have to live life with one
replacements are not easy to get
Since you can only have one life
it means your future is set

Repairs may need to be made
with valves that sometimes leak
The operation for this fix
is a plan you may have to seek

The heart gives us blood pressure
sometimes too high or too low
We may need several drugs
to give blood the proper flow

Coumadin or warfarin for less
will adjust the time it takes to clot
Your diet will have an effect
some foods affect this a lot

Keeping track of the INR
is a practice you should do
Strokes and bleeding will be less
news you probably already knew

Good luck to you in the future
my doctor is helping me get there
Find a good cardiologist
and get the same great care
