Anticipation

facing reality

Failing in the human mind
happens almost every day
Very upsetting it always is
unpleasant in every way

 

The past is not the future
though we might wish it so
Adapting instead will help
and its a better way to go

 

When changes are unpleasant
and not welcome to the mind
We forget it is the reality
we feel has not been kind

 

Foresight replaced by hindsight
will oil the waters well
Reality is about hindsight
as truth will surely tell

 

If we can state our disappointment
of what bothers us so much
We can face the future better
and do it without a crutch

 

Writing poems help to focus
on what we feel we have lost
Making reality more bearable
and minimizing the cost

 

Solutions are mostly mental
the first thing we have to face
Dealing with disappointments
that we hope we can erase

 

Finally the hard part
is accepting what is true
There is never any substitute
for doing the best you can do
