Self-fulfilling Prophecies

Self-fulfilling Prophecies

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

in all life forms

"
We are self-fulfilling prophecies
what  else could we expect
Our cells continue to replicate
so they can easily connect

The variations are built in
as a part of the DNA
It could even be the reason
for the human need to pray

We pray that what we have
will never go away
We like what is familiar
and want a better life today

We build bridges to the future
so as not to lose the past
The good parts of our life
we want to make them last

There was no need to plan for this
it happens to all life forms
It gives every form of life
the power to weather storms

Even the words of a poem
are better when they connect
The special effect of everything
that makes them seem correct

Self-fulfilling prophecies
are the best way to live
They are all about sharing
and what it means to give

Giving is what we do
to continue what we start
We know this instinctively
in what we know about heart
