The Years Ahead

The Years Ahead

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and how we live them

"
Longevity is one problem
environment is another
We get little benefit from either
without the effect of the other

They affect everything we do
and they combine to give
The kind of life we get to enjoy
and also how long we live

Whatever the facts dictate
how we handle them is up to us
There will be no magic involved
nor anything we want to discuss

Begging for more is foolish
it won't do us any good
It will be only our behavior
trying to do the best we could

Accidents that may happen
will change everything very quick
You will have to hope no virus
comes at you to make you sick

Hurdles of each day are many
 coming from an unknown cause
They are definitely in your future
it is just one of nature's laws

What we like to call nature
is really how the universe works
You get what everyone else got
and there are never any perks

Food is the greatest killer
with or without its effect
Salt makes food taste better
until its poison comes to collect

So face yourself in a mirror
to see what others have seen
If your food helps you to live
you've been eating foods more lean
