Risk Taking

Risk Taking

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

for freedom

"
If you like to take risks
you surely are not alone
It is an act of faith
with benefits well known

No one has survived
without taking some risks
Anyone who has tried
no longer exists

My earliest risk at four
I directed traffic in the street
Of the time I remember
a feeling very neat

I was later tied up with rope
when my parents found out
They restricted my freedom
as I told them with a shout

This event of my past
opened new doors for me
What happened that time
kindled my desire to be free

The events of our early years
have a profound effect
It develops our desire
to be the one who will select

Selecting is a choice
of our next way to turn
An important part of
the desire to learn

Give the ones you love
the freedom to choose
Otherwise their love
you will be certain to lose
