Rhyming Poetry

Rhyming Poetry

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

an explanation...?

"
We know that rhyming affects poetry
keeping it simple and sweet
Serious subjects require other words
many of which do not rhyme

Good poetry uses a combination
too get the message across
Otherwise the poetry
would be declared another loss

You can see in these two stanzas
it is shown how this works
There are a few more examples
in the following lines of this poem

Good stories ignore the problem
by predominately using prose
The words of an intriguing story
 create the necessary suspense

Words chosen you may agree
say a lot about the author
Reflecting their past thoughts
by having rhyming words to offer

To write better poetry
you could follow this rule
Maybe the readers then
might considered it cool

Occasionally using not
helps to select a rhyming word
It improves the chance to find
a rhyming word like heard

This simple-minded analysis
was written as an attempt
To explain an author's problem
and to avoid some contempt

I finally found a way
to add color to the words
It hasn't helped the poetry
which is "only for the birds"

Besides being enjoyable. This is very useful. Am still trying to work out...Frequent use of the negative not...allows selecting a rhyming word. It improves the chance...etc. Clever composition. Thanks.
