Where Tastes are Learned

Where Tastes are Learned

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

the powerful environment

"
Learning as we grow
is conditioning for life ahead
Our tastes last a lifetime
not willingly to be shed

Tastes improve our choices
in almost everything we do
Helping us as we live
to face events that are new

Tastes are the result of choices
a major part of whom we are
Reflecting acts of our past
and more important by far

Habits influence our choices
also defining how we react
They build our character traits
and our belief in what is fact

Experience brings questions
challenging what we know
Opinions we long have had
may not be what is so

Developing better tastes
will give the future a new slant
Helping us answer the questions
of whether one can or one can't

Fearing the unknown is normal
it lacks the quality of being sure
We need to face the future with courage
if we hope to find a cure

Solutions include taking chances
that add excitement to the choice
If we are alert in what we do
we may have reason to rejoice
