Gluttony

Gluttony

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

very unheathy

"
When food tastes too good
gourmands eat too much
A habit becomes a problem
walking will require a crutch

Eating everything in sight
is a hazard for the obese
Their hunger doesn't stop
until their days on earth cease

Survival is unlikely
for the obese and the underfed
Their end comes too soon
due to the tragic life they led

All animal species
eventually end this way
The few that survive
are another animal's prey

Diets will not help
if living to eat is the plan
Gluttony will take its toll
for any woman or man

Where does one learn
these habits so wrong
It has to be their family
and their desire to belong

The change must begin
with the very young
With a diet that doesn't cause
a gluttonous tongue

Longevity gets a start
when families eat the right food
Giving the next generation
a healthier attitude
