Habits

Habits

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

needing a change

"
Bad habits don't just go away
they have to be driven back
Why this effort is so necessary
is due to what our brain cells lack

They lack the courage for change
it is the way they have been bent
All the mistakes of our past
are the messages they have been sent

We learn by whatever we do
it helps when we learn the right way
You know from your past it is true
for mistakes we will have to pay

Making changes gets even harder
with every year that goes by
The sooner we face the truth
the easier it will be to try

Resolutions are mostly hot air
like the promises scammers make
The courage of our convictions
is the only path we can take

Facing the truth is not easy
we will have to endure the pain
Making small changes is a start
for the success we hope to attain

Words like these will not help
because it is about what you will do
No one else will ever change you
the mirror is what you must view

The mirror will not lie
so look at it carefully today
You may get a clue to begin
there really is no other way
