The Message

The Message

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

is the reason

"

The message in every story

is the real reason for the write

The words are the messenger

with the intention to give delight

Every story has a beginning

but the end means the most

As when the beef is very tender

what really matters is the roast

Suspense requires questions

to connect with how the reader feels

Keeping the readers attention

to events the story reveals

The characters in the tale

are mirrored by the author's past

At the writing desk's safe haven

he creates an interesting cast

The plot supports the message

as it gets much more complex

Involving tradgedy and pathos

with examples of loving sex

Even serious injury or illness

will make characters seem more real

Bringing out the best in the hero

to touch the way we feel

The saga should bring surprise

in how the conflict ends

If the meanest character dies

we like the message the story sends

When you choose to write

your originality will face a test

Your effort will create some sparks

Just like Nicholas who is the best
