Contest

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

the daily struggle

"
At every passing age
 we face a different sight
Bravely confronting problems
trying to win the fight

In the beginning
we did not understand
The importance of the battle
and the need to take a stand

Competition from the start
seemed natural and true
We knew what we wanted
almost everything in view

When we couldn't attain it
we tried a different tack
In our struggle to succeed
there was no confidence lack

Success has become easier
with every eventful win
Giving us some satisfaction
as we fought with our kin

The battleground has widened
in competition with other foes
Each contest needs a new approach
in the battle that never slows

Because we never give up
we are still in there to win
Facing all the challenges
of the situations we are in

Even with an occasional loss
we will plunge on to the end
This is the important message
we have been trying to send
