Taste

Taste

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

behavioral choice

"
 An event in the mind
affecting what we do
A belief in what is good
about all we know that's true

Controlling what we eat
a habit you might say
Not only concerning food
but what we do every day

Habit becomes our mantra
and how we will relate
To all of those like us
and even to those we hate

Keeping an open mind
is harder than before
Even though it is better
it is a difficult chore

When we have lost
our ability to see
What the opposition says
we will no longer be free

This status form of taste
can give fame and fortune too
Comparing us with others
who know less of what is true

Evaluating the difference
by the friends we know
Will encourage our behavior
in the belief of what is so

Taste will then be our burden
causing our limited scope
An open mind will be lost
one of the best ways to cope
