Beware

Beware

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

means being aware

"
Beware is the watchword
being aware about what you do
There are many scams out there
with a goal of attacking you

Joining a group seeming friendly
which shares many thoughts with you
Is the perfect group with a motive
that wants what you have too

They come on strong
with words sounding kind
You take there bait happily
hoping a friend to find

True friends take years to know
giving in many small ways
This test of awareness is important
if it lasts for many days

Quick contacts give us pleasure
so easy to call them kismet
But that is why they took less time
they were likely a sucker's bet

If we lost old friends we knew
who really cared about what we do
At least they were dependable
there motives were always true

The urge to replace them is great
thus making us less aware
Any hurried careless friendship
is like responding to a dare

The dare is the danger
for those who get taken in
They get just what they asked for
this lets the evil strangers win

Your words are true. Days of old is gone. The computer age have took face to face conversation and create trust away. I miss the days of coffee shop conversations about life and everything. Now everyone is lock into computers and don't make eye contact. I believe we need friends. I had a few strange ones. They were not allow in the house. A outstanding poem.
