Luck

Luck

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and the effort required

"
Luck has more meaning
when considering the past
If we had good fortune
we want it to last

Hindsight will tell us
of the luck we shared
Good fortune is having
many friends who cared

Trusting our luck
enables us to begin
When events are favorable
there is a chance to win

Events where we were lucky
give us reason to repeat
But the only sure results
would require us to cheat

That is why honest effort
 always embraces the unknown
If success continues to smile
our faith in luck will have grown

Being willing to consider
that plans will not succeed
Takes being a stronger person
a condition we all need

Failure is a part of winning
known well by those who try
It gives them courage to begin
with no need to ask why

Planning for future success
includes practice every day
The best way to have a chance
and have luck come our way
