Questions of Taste

Questions of Taste

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

personal and social

"
Learned from those who knew
conditioning for life ahead
Gifts lasting the whole life long
tastes never to be shed

Tastes control our choices
in everything we do
Affecting us as we live
in all events that are new

Honoring what we learned
controlling who we are
Happy to know of the past
tastes more important by far

Habits influence our taste
defining how we react
Building character traits
what we believe to be fact

Experience brings questions
challenging what we know
Can a change of opinion now
tell what is really so?

Events challenging complacency
give the future a new slant
Asking the important questions
whether you can or can't

Fearing the unknown is normal
lacking the quality of sure
But moving forward with courage
might be the only cure

Embracing chance for solutions
adds excitement to the choice
Chance will be there anyway
just find a reason to rejoice
