Being Human

Being Human

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

challenge of lifetime

"
Savages we came from
Savages many are still
Their DNA is now ours
Controlling our will

 DNA they passed on
Helps us stay alive
Radical DNA change
And life cannot survive

Civilization can help
Some leaders may be the worst
Though their greed has no limit
They seem able to come in first

What can we do now
When so many practice greed
We can't deny what's true
Its a character of our seed

Life is never hopeless
When we tend our gardens with care
Look past all those problems
That others choose to bear

Say goodbye to sadness
Look around for a friend
Share a bit of gladness
And don't let it end

If you keep your chin up
That will help you too
But giving up the ship
Is the poorest thing to do

Choose to be a model
Of the way to live today
An unshakeable belief in good
Will help finding a better way
