The Talking Heads

The Talking Heads

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

wasting our time

"
So many vacuous minds
telling us what we should do
With little understanding
and knowing less that is true

We listen to the blather
because it is given free
It comes to us in tirades
hoping to make us agree

The motive for their nonsense
lies in selling to make a buck
The useless plans they present
will even take away our luck

If we can take away their sound
we might see where they stand
What they really are selling
is certainly not something grand

Listening always takes patience
but with the effort we will know
There are better ways to succeed
than be treated like we were slow

When we listen to useless talk
the result is an addled brain
Just as in brain-washed children
who never think clearly again

The pay the heads receive
is their excuse for talking so much
Leaving everyone who listens
weaker and needing their crutch

You can turn off the sounds they utter
giving your mind a chance to breathe
You will become a wiser person
who solves many problems with ease
