Anger

Anger

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and who it hurts

"

Anger is a state of mind

defined by the language we learn

The desire we have to get even

becomes a major concern

Getting even assuages our fear

that bad acts will happen again

It also makes us feel better

in the battle we hope to win

The battles are part of the war

that animal natures want to fight

Being able to destroy the enemy

says what we did was right

The Spirits sent from God

were Angels of mercy and love

Avoiding the hatred and killing

is His message from above

As animals we don't always listen

to what our Maker has said

But history has told us the truth

and why so many are dead

A killer who kills to get even

is the same as the one he killed

Surely not what God intended

an act He never would have willed

Civilization we know depends

on a better life saving plan

Our animal nature is the problem

but listen to the Angels if you can

To help us share in harmony

find a belief that will help us live

It is our way to save civilization

an effort only humans can give

A excellent poem. My Father has a bad temper. I learn to control my temper. He taught me hate and violence lead to prison. A lot of wisdom in your words.
