Mentality

Mentality

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and our future

"

Too many thoughts

not good for the mind

Just causing confusion

of most every kind

Keep it simple

don't stress the time

Make life last longer

writing more rhyme

In the days of our youth

when everything was new

All that happened was a joy

because choices were few

Excitement in life

comes from opening doors

Those who can do this

live a life that soars

They seldom question

what they choose to do

This is their advantage

that we could have too

Trying not to question

is more easily said than done

When looking for better answers

was what we did for fun

The answer for us now

is getting up off our dime

Such a poor place to sit

when looking for more time

The end will come

sooner than one thinks

No one gets to live

the life of a Sphinx

Oh wow this is great! The ending is perfect! To portray being a simple observer, as resembling a Sphinx... so original! So different from "A fly on the wall" ...etc.
This poem is very true, and ironically I've been trying to take joy in the every day, every day, so on and so forth. Rather than making plans, actually acting on them. And then I feel truly alive. It's wonderful.
If only more people would take this advice to heart~

Wonderful write!
