Time

Time

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

life's measure

"

More than a measure
 an incomprehensible friend
Part of all meaning
and good to the end

We wake up and know
that we are still here
Giving us the confidence
that we have less to fear

Time brightens our prospects
as we plan for the day
The hours that lie ahead
will help show us the way

Experience has given
what we needed to know
With a memory of the past
and the will to make it so

Thinking how we have lived
for these many years
Time helps us recall
all the smiles and the tears

Our minds are aware
of the times of our success
Trying always to forget
any time that was less

So many examples
of the good and the bad
Trying to remember
wonderful times we have had

The gift of time
is a treasure we have found
We hope it will still be here
in our next time around
