Charity

Charity

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

in tough times

"
The rich like to give to charity
so to stem losses to their wealth
For them life is about position
and certainly not about health

It is very obvious to them
that if one knows how to earn
health and good medicine
would never be a concern

The poor who can't manage
this simple economic truth
Will likely never experience
a life being long in the tooth

The poor will get gifts from charity
and be glad for what they got
It is the best they will be given
since only the wealthy will get a lot

Many have learned to hold out
for the jobs that pay so well
Being  given positions as managers
because they knew how to sell

The economy depends on buying
someone must provide one a job
When workers get money to spend
they may become a target to rob

Exchange is how life functions
with many workers earning some pay
They will buy what there is to sell
so rich merchants can live their way

This they learned at a university
and it is how they got their wealth
Or reading books about how to do this
because they wanted to insure their health

Well written, though I can not agree with the politics of it.
