Taste

Taste

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

a human invention

"

So personal and correct
without ever having to try
Learned with ease and comfort
not caring about why

Natural like our nature
as in whom we have become
The first choice in our infancy
never to be undone

Like is how we describe it
the kernel of what is true
Unquestioned in our mind
what is right for us to do

Repetition produces habit
adding to its strength
Not ever wanting to change
we will go to any length

Being fortunate in the beginning
with a mentor who is wise
Our life develops so naturally
with power to avoid the lies

If choice becomes our watchword
we are well along the way
To a life of wisdom and success
from learning what is okay

We can then join with others
who believe in what we know
Our group assumes a leadership
in finding the route to go

We might even say we are Taste
because that is where it all began
Followers are our support group
as we help every thinking man
