Survival

Survival

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

and our beliefs

"
If survival we couldn't manage
none of us would still be here
The complexity of our existence
should never cause us fear

Knowing God created us
is a belief only in our mind
Possibly we created Him
for a better life to find

No sensible person
should have a fear of God
However He exists
He's a helpful lightning rod

We know our God will fight Satan
the one who causes trouble
Our good and bad choices
will clear away the rubble

The magnificent acts of Nature
keep everything in line
When we learn to have Faith
our future will be fine

It takes intelligence to believe
other species don't need this
They can live out their lives
never needing to wish

How all forms of life got here
most of us don't know
But wishing to be here longer
slow is the speed we should go

Rushing ahead blindly
has always been a mistake
It's a clear path to extinction
the poorest direction to take

If you can calm yourself today
and enjoy whatever you believe
You may find this is your Heaven
where God's blessing you can receive

WOW...this is great! But my only critique is that it's a little confusing. In the second stanza you say that we may have created God in our mind. So I started thinking that maybe you didn't believe that God existed. But then in the second stanza you say that He does exist. Maybe I'm reading to much into it...and if I am, ignore my critique. :) I love your last stanza "You may find this is your Heaven/where God's blessing you can receive" Great poem! :)

This is so wonderful that my eyes filled up with emotion. It's just so true and your faith is shining all the way through to the end. That in itself is very touching. Very well put together with the most natural flow ever. Thanks so much for sharing. Going straight to my favourites.
