Motherhood

Motherhood

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

she gave us our life

"
Every mother gets involved
beyond her wildest expectations
She knows what she must do
to aid her children's explorations

Controlling began by giving
her all to every birth
She knew of her importance
and the extent of her worth

It will be hard to let go
as children become mature
Though what she gave to them
will determine their lives for sure

What they received from bonding
will influence who they are
Buried deeply in their memory
her kind of love will take them far

Dad must be ready
to step back while helping her
His role is very different
I think you will concur

Controls taught by both
though different are both required
Children need parental guidance
if you want them to be inspired

When parents share the load
the family will be blessed
The success they all will have
is greater than could be guessed

The children will relive their example
when they choose the role of parent
We see this in most important families
the excellence being inherent
