Sleep

Sleep

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

for better health

"

Sleep doesn't come easy

when you cannot relax

The left brain stays busy

recalling the day's facts

Trying to let go

you still toss and turn

There is a way to escape this

by a routine you have to learn

Focus on your right brain

and forget every goal

The right brain senses feelings

and is home to the soul

With this transfer you will feel

your approach to dreamland

From the blending of your memories

you can ignore every demand

Learning how to do this

will take practice for sure

To achieve a loss of tension

sleep will help with the cure

To learn anything worthwhile

requires one who will give

The time and the effort

to find a better way to live

This plan has worked for many

who take no drugs or a pill

We go to sleep in minutes

learn it and I know you will

My tension is diminished

when my right brain is in control

Sleep then brings me peace

with less anxiety taking its toll
