Sleep

and needed rest

Sleep is essential to health
how to get enough we can learn
Give your body the help it needs
and you'll get healthful rest in return

 

Rest is a requirement of life
enough will help you stay well
You need no further explanation
as any good doctor would tell

 

Will we get enough rest today
after doing all that we choose
We had better make it happen
or our body has much to lose

 

The necessary ability to sleep
is clearly required by our brain
It nourishes the thoughts we prize
and helps in what we hope to gain

 

In the early years of our life
we had plenty of  time to rest
You may agree as you read this poem
you were given a life that was blessed

 

Avoid stressing any infant
its defenses haven't yet been learned
This child will get the needed sleep
if we are sufficiently concerned

 

Any life enjoying proper rest
will be more vibrant when awake
Take time for enough rest yourself
no better choice could you make
