Our Future

and what we do about it

The events of our past

tell so clearly who we are

If we are planning a long life

they are most important by far

Habits we won't escape

they took years to engender

they began so long ago

when we can't remember

Our dependence is familiar

it is part of every day

Giving in to any change

we might lose being okay

Remember this is about us

not how others play the game

They can do what they want to

no two people are the same

That still doesn't change

the hazards in what we do

Problems we are encountering

need consideration too

No problem goes away

even when recognized

Was our habit the problem

we had not even realized

We need to talk to ourselves

with a firm sense of right

Any change we will ever make

will take some clear insight

Keeping an eye on the future

is the best way to begin

Every day take the new way

the surer way to win
