Learning Requires Action

and responsibility

The Good Book was written

to tell people the way

If they had ever understood it

the world might be okay

 

Like the words in this poem

their meaning is ignored

Saints who wrote the Good Book

could only be adored

 

No one learns by words alone

the intended connection is not made

We all need good examples

in order to make the grade

 

It is true if the examples are clear

we might understand the Book's writing

We could then proceed with less fear

to reduce all the senseless fighting

 

Behavior will not change

simply due to what is being said

It takes effort and acceptance

if we are ever to be led

 

Every leader must understand

the requirements to become a guide

Learners face a difficult future

learning will be a challenging ride

 

If we hope to become civilized

by what we do to learn

the outcome is our responsibility

it must be our primary concern
