Life beats with a melodic rhythm

challenging death at every turn

spurning negative behavior

to enjoy the future in return

 

Appreciating its complexity

will take all of our power

and believing in its beauty

will help our life to flower

 

Living is our one existence

imparting growth and wisdom too

when built upon a sound premise

we may also discover what's true

 

This wonderful gift of life

was not our choice

when we treat it with respect

there will be much to rejoice

 

Responding to what we do

we get back what we deserve

by doing what we need to survive

will show we have some nerve

 

If we are not living in denial

we might enjoy a few more years

ignoring the faults in our behavior

will be the cause of many tears
