Bridges

I wanted to build

some bridges to friends

so I thought of the dove

and the message that it sends

 

Peace hope and love

are inspired by this bird

there are many good examples

that all of us have heard

 

We and us are the basis

for the connection that is shared

it brings us closer together

by showing how we cared

 

In the beginning of my effort

I was struggling with what to say

it seemed like an impossible task

as I tried to find my way

 

When I managed a four line stanza

the truth of my love became clear

one very short little poem

helped to assuage most of my fear

 

After writing these words

I sent them to one I love

my inspiration was given help

by what I knew of the dove

 

This is how I began

my bridge to every friend

it is how I deeply care for them

I will not let it ever end

 

No doubt you could do this too

if you ever sought to try

you might find the joy that I found

my happiness says its no lie
