Reinvention

Reinvention

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

generational failure

"

Generations of populations

like to reinvent the wheel

though it is a very foolish activity

it is more about what they feel

Forgetting the past

so to embrace the new

they usually claim bravely

it is the best that they can do

Ignoring significant failures

that did so much damage

the new ego-driven generation

takes on more than they can manage

Wise men often ask

why didn't they want to know

what history tried to tell them

that it was not the way to go

Each generation plows on

making the same mistakes

never realizing the problem

and putting on the brakes

Speed is the serious infection

and life goes whizzing by

had they just slowed down at bit

they might have made a better try

Again it is over-population

that effectively damages their cause

they even seem to support this mistake

with many detrimental laws

There was never any promise

in our universe so large

that any form of intelligence

would ever be in charge
